The Party - Part I

Introduction

From the dynamic duo to the full on raid group, the party was, is and always has been a fundamental aspect of roleplay. The party is your group of characters brought together in order to pursue a common goal, which, traditionally, is to beat the bad guys and liberate the village from the clutches of evil or to deter incoming peril. Whatever your objective is, the best way to do it is with someone at your side. The reader will recognize a common analogy (ab)used throughout this article, used for the good purpose of comparing our method of roleplay to a younger one. As with the previous, this article will be split into several posts to protect you from an eternity in the the god-forsaken plains of text-wall hell.

Iradox This is a well-written article. I'm looking forward to reading your next entry.

The Criminal - Part II

Picking up from last month's issue, the second part of the Criminal Character Spotlight highlights some of the troubles and conflicts criminal characters have to deal with as a detriment on their lifestyle and other key aspects of criminal identity, such as organizations, independents and infamy.

The Criminal - Part I

Introduction

When an economy falters, criminals rise.

No society maintains complete and utter control over all of their citizens, and no government can monitor their citizens’ every move out in the streets, in their homes or skulking through darkened alleyways. And law may dictate rule, but regulations and justice systems hold no power when they cannot put a face to every crime and stamp it out from the underworlds of their economy, and that is only if they have any intentions of stamping them out.

An economy, a society, a government - all of these things have cracks in their systems, holes to be exploited by the daring opportunists or those who simply fell down to crime as a victim of circumstance. When these cracks aren’t mended, criminals come forward to fill them and make their profit.
